2006 Audi A3

Audi, the Volkswagon group, has recently introduced in 2006 the Audi A3. A hatchback with a sportier look geared towards the younger aged buyer who wants a more luxurious car over its predecessor VW. The company is marketing toward the buyer who doesn't want a sedan, wagon, or SUV; and wants a smooth looking car with the greatness of an Audi.

The 2005 Audi A3 offered only one engine choice but in 2006, the A3 offers buyer more choices in engine and features. Starting at $25,460, the A3 2.0 T, the choices are a 200 hp with 6-speed DSG transmission and front-wheel drive or a 200hp with 6-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. A turbocharged DOHC inline 2.0 liter 4 cylinder with FSI Direct Injection and variable valve timing and intake manifold.

In 6.7 seconds, the Audi A3 DSG can go from 0-60 mph and in a 6-speed, it takes 6.9 seconds. The estimated fuel economy in the DSG 25/31 and in the manual models is 24/32.

The Audi A3 3.2 Quattro is a 250 hp with 6-speed DSG transmission and an electro-hydraulic control and Quattro all-wheel drive. Starting at $34,700, A3 3.2 offers the DOHC 3.2 liter V6 with spark-ignition, DSG® (Direct Shift Gearbox), and Haldex quattro® all-wheel drive

Standard exterior features include power mirrors with defog features, power rear window wiper, aerodynamic ellipsoid halogen projector headlights with variable focus reflectors, integrated low beam and high beam tubes. Safety features include an anti-lock brake system with vacuum power assist, EBD, and hydraulic Brake Assist. Side, front and rear airbags, as well as driver and eat mounted chest airbags.

All seat belts have a height adjustable mounts as well as 3-point safety with automotive pre-tensioning. Child safety on the rear doors locks and LATCH in the rear seats.
